LIVE

Indestructible, superstar-nearing-supernova singing.
— KUTX
Before seeing her live, I considered Primo the Alien a talented songwriter who crafts infectious pop tunes from a Crayola box of sounds and influences. After, she’s a primal force of nature. By using the backdrop of 80’s synth to create new and exciting music, Primo transcends the modern new wave genre. And the woman can belt like with the best in the ATX. One of my favorite artists to emerge in the last five years.

Electro synthpop queen.

  • Billed with K Flay, Emlyn, Ghostland Observatory, The Midnight, Max Frost, Bob Schneider, Sir Woman, FM84, Jackie Venson, Gina Chavez, Vincint, Timecop1983, Savoir Adore, David Ramirez, Ollie Wride, Mobley, Sarah Jaffe, Violet Days, Neon Indian, BLK Odyssey.

  • Performances at Austin City Limits Music Festival, the Moody Theatre/ACL Live, Emo’s, 3Ten ACL Live, Parish, Mohawk, Cheer Up Charlies, Empire Control Room, South Congress Hotel, The Pershing, Kitting Factory (NYC), Deep Ellum Art Co. (Dallas), SXSW

  • Primo is also a member of all-female pop supergroup, KVN, with MC Glaeser (Shy Beast) and Sarah Keilers (DOSSEY).

Austin’s Laura Lee Bishop has become a must-hear performer thanks to her incandescent vocals and ability to blur the boundaries between the retro-pop of Tina Turner and the contemporary flairs of Dua Lipa – all under the stage name Primo the Alien.

BIO

Primo the Alien is an Austin-based electro/alt-pop artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. A graduate of the esteemed Clive Davis Institute at New York University with a degree in Record Production, Primo serves nostalgic pop with a futuristic edge. Primo blends unexpected song structure and off-kilter instrumentation with infectious, ear worm melodies and clever lyrics to create music that is accessible yet unconventional. On-stage overshares, sharp wit, and playful mischievousness are hallmarks of Primo the Alien’s otherworldly persona, creating an interactive live show that charms, disarms, and delights audiences. Primo’s fearlessness, unrelenting intensity, and eccentric bravado are balanced with levity, effervescence, and imagination, delivering a musical punch that is as undeniable as it is refreshing. In a sea of strobe-light pretenders, Primo the Alien is a disco ball ablaze.

Primo the Alien is a recipient of the prestigious Abe Olman Award for Excellence in Songwriting from the Songwriters Hall of Fame and was named Best Performer in Austin by Austin Monthly. A two-time American Idol Golden Ticket recipient, Primo’s most recent album, “Heart on the Run,” reached #1 on the Bandcamp pop charts and landed several Spotify editorial playlists. Primo the Alien is the face of Universal Audio’s new audio interface the Volt and is featured in their international brand campaign. Hot off the heels of her Austin City Limits Music Festival debut, alongside Lil Nas X, SZA, Flume, Kacey Musgraves, Paramore, and Pink, Primo is hard at work on a full length alt-pop album releasing in 2024.

SOUND

Intergalactic master-of-MIDI and celestial synth-wizard.
— KUTX

An amalgam of past, present and future electro-pop sensibilities, Primo the Alien’s sound is often compared to Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, The Midnight and The Weeknd, alongside Tina Turner, David Bowie, and Michael Jackson. Primo creates 80s-inspired synth-pop with modern flair - accessible, vocally-driven, songs drenched in nostalgia with a confidant, contemporary edge.
